MINISYMPOSIUM ABSTRACT

Dynamic Light Scattering Experiment on Computer: Diffusion in Random Pores

Joon C. Lee

To study the dynamics of a binary liquid mixture in glass pores we have performed a molecular dynamics simulation and measured the concentration fluctuation autocorrelation function and several other dynamic functions. The self diffusion deviates from the Fickian pattern which we attribute to the confining effect of the glass walls. The mutual diffusion exhibits the presence of a collective component which we attribute to hydrodynamics.
