Using PDF
There are several mechanism for generating PDF files. The Adobe Acrobat Distileris available as proprietary software. Alternatively, excellent quality PDF files may be generated using LaTeX (in Linux) using the pdf2latex command. To convert LaTeX documents which contain embedded encapsulated Postscript figures, use the epstopdf command. An example with description is available online.

It is possible to convert Postscript files to PDF using ghostscript. Please consider downlowading and installing a free copy of either the Ghostscript, Ghostview and GSView which allows the processing of Postscript to PDF format, or an Acrobat reader from Adobe Systems, Inc., which allows the processing of PDF (Portable Document Format) Files.

Either of these products is available at no cost as shareware and is supported on a variety of platforms, including Windows, Macintosh and Linux.

There is a local resource guide on using graphics which contains information on postscript and pdf.
