OBTAINING THE DISSc PACKAGE

The Entire Package

The entire package, including AMS font and class and style files are available in diss.tar.gz. Make sure that you are using the latest distribution. The DISSc.tex file should show REV 26. The files were last updated 11/21/05. The document uses the dissertations_usm.cls file which supersedes the style files dissertation_usm.sty and dissertation12_usm.sty.

To process, use gzip to decompress and tar to expand the files in the directory where they will be processed,

gzip -d diss.tar.gz

tar -xvf diss.tar

Using the WWW Browser to View the Files

Because the file diss.tar.gz contains the complete html files, you can use your web browser to obtain view the information in this package. To do this, open a file to

./diss_html/sms_latex.html

with the browser. This points to all of the files in this package.

If you have the DISSc package, you can access the tutorial package and other online help using the command disstool to start an interactive session.
